The reason for the MSM meltdown is simple: the MSM are not staffed by journalists.  Where conservative sources have been politically involved from inception, the bulk of the MSM deal in pure sensationalism.  They don't have actual political opinions, and they aren't qualified to form them.  They function purely on desire for profit, not news.  This is why they were hired, and this what they do – very well.

This is also the reason for the current conflict between journalists and the MSM.  We expect logical discourse, but they are unarmed and thus nervous.  We raise issues, and they respond with wild accusations and half-truths.  Millions are aghast at the utterly illogical diatribes passed off as "news" today, but you must understand that this is all the MSM have in their arsenal.

Does this excuse them?  Certainly not; ignorance shouted in anger is not excusable.  But it does explain them, and it should temper the attitudes of those who criticize them.  They are cornered beasts, completely out of their element and fighting tooth and nail.  Good character would suggest they admit their shortcomings, but good character and profit-mongering are seldom bedfellows, so don't expect any admissions of this intrinsic ignorance on the part of MSM writers.

Were there an obvious answer to this dilemma, it would be offered.  Sadly, there is not, and we'll just have to bear it.  But please bear it with understanding, and do not be tempted to reply in kind, pouring gasoline on the inferno.  Instead, replace unwarranted outrage with gentleness.  Keep informed, keep networking with those of actual awareness, and keep supporting actual truth.  This is how our president came to be elected, and this is how we will save the USA.
