Self Governance is Under Attack, not just the Second Amendment

On Wednesday, Rasmussen Reports released the results of a poll revealing that only "74% of American Adults continue to believe the U.S. Constitution guarantees the right of an average citizen to own a gun."  This finding is perplexing because the Constitution hasn't changed.  You can actually see it in the National Archives, and right there in the Bill of Rights you will find the Second Amendment.  It reads as follows: A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. The language in the Second Amendment isn't vague or confusing.  Since only 74% of our fellow citizens believe that we have a constitutional right to own guns, it's safe to conclude that roughly a quarter of our population isn't familiar with our founding document and the principles that it sets forth.  That's disheartening because our forefathers fought and died to secure those rights for us, and...(Read Full Post)
