Representative Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) once served in the notoriously corrupt Illinois state legislature with then Illinois state senator Barack Obama (D), both representing Chicago, "the most corrupt city in the nation." Although both have moved on from that less than august body they were among the many who contributed the philosophy and the votes that have given the state of Illinois the dubious distinction of owning the worst credit rating in the nation.  As a long time close associate of Obama's, who is now Chief Deputy Whip of the House Democrats, her thought processes and outlook are quite similar to Obama's.
