Although the 146th running of the Kentucky Derby has been rescheduled from May 2 to September 5, according to CBS News and the Washington Post, Joe Biden is moving full speed ahead and will be naming a vice presidential search panel by May 1.  Their mission is to vet and recommend two to three names by convention time to be considered for the vice presidential nomination.

Ever since the Tuesday, April 21 interview on CBS This Morning between host Gayle King and former Georgia Democratic gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams, who, in Ms. King's eyes, is "extremely qualified" the attention is turning to possible candidates for the V.P. slot on the Democratic ticket.

Ms. Abrams, who makes no apologies that she views herself as a contender to be taken seriously, states:

I believe I have the capacity, the competence and skills and willingness to serve but I'll say this: My first responsibility is to make sure that the work I'm doing across this country working with federal, state and local leaders helps serve the people who need at any time most.

As Biden has committed himself in public to choose a woman as his running mate, that in my opinion was his first mistake.  He obviously thinks little of the female population if he believes that by putting a woman on the ticket, that automatically means that women will vote gender politics and not on the issues.
