Buttigieg, the evasive chameleon
Elizabeth Vaughn of Red State cites Don Bongino to explain Pete Buttigieg's appeal the Democrat voters despite his glaring inexperience and poor performance as mayor of the small city of South Bend, Indiana. Bongino says, "Pete Buttigieg has a near magical ability to never answer a question. His [BSing] skills are second to none in the Dem field." Bongino says that when Buttigieg doesn't want to answer a question, he'll ramble on for four or five minutes without giving an answer.
A compliant media lets Mayor Pete get away with this. But putting aside the media for the time being, what accounts for this ability — that Buttigieg has to disguise his true beliefs with such evasion?

There are two reasons. To understand the first, go to the 1980s and back from there. That was before homosexual behavior was mandated to be acceptable by the leading lights of society. As such, homosexuals had to be good at hiding their "preferences." Back then, being a homosexual was enough to deny a person getting a security clearance for sensitive government positions. This was not so much because homosexuals were susceptible to blackmail, which itself was a legitimate concern. No, the thinking was that homosexuals were a greater risk because they were unusually successful at being devious and hiding their intent. Enough said.
Secondly, look at Pete Buttigieg's father, Joseph. He was a Marxist professor at Notre Dame, where he was on the faculty for 37 years, starting from 1980. Professor Buttigieg was a scholar on Italian communist Antonio Gramsci (1891–1937). He admired Gramsci so much that he was a founding member and onetime president of the International Gramsci Society.
Gramsci's main original contribution to Marxism was that for communism to succeed, culture first had to be corrupted. This was to be done by subverting the institutions of a country from the inside out. Sadly, this has proven highly effective in the United States. Starting in earnest after WWII, communists and like-minded people went into government bureaucracies, universities, the media, and religious dominations and slowly started spread their left-wing thinking throughout them. These infiltrators did not announce that they were communists or their fellow travelers. Rather, they hid that fact and hid it well.
As they advanced upward in these organizations, they made sure to hire their own kind and filter out others. One result of this process explains why so many college departments skew hard left. A conservative candidate had little chance of being brought in, especially if he held strong Christian beliefs. Ironically, many universities that were started by devout Christians now harbor centers of anti-Christianity bigotry within them. This is Gramsci writ large.
This brings us back to boy mayor. Given that he idolized his father, it is easy to assume that he absorbed Gramsci's teachings at his daddy's knee. Pete Buttigieg is a red diaper baby. Given his background and upbringing, he's a natural at hiding his core beliefs to advance the cause. If the U.S. had an honest media, it would be child's play to smoke out Buttigieg's true beliefs and expose him for what he is. But we all know that the term "honest media" is an oxymoron.
Can the liberal media keep covering up for Buttigieg? Maybe yes, maybe no. On one hand, the media, although they are not omnipotent, are still powerful. Look what they did and still do for Barack H. Obama. That man held the highest position in the U.S. government for eight years, yet there is still so much the American public doesn't know about him. One the other hand, if Buttigieg gets the nomination or is coming close to it, he'll be going against The Donald, not mopes like John McCain and Mitt Romney, whom Obama was fortunate to have as opponents. With or without the media, Trump will put a hot enough spotlight on Buttigieg to melt him, allowing America to see what's behind the façade.
