Socialism vs. liberty: Come November, the choice is yours
As the Democrat candidates for president fall over each other decrying our economic system, imagined inequality, capitalism, our free market, and lack of opportunities, one has to wonder what country these ingrates are living in.
As millions throughout the globe attempt to reach our shore legally and illegally, surely, it is not to an America as described by these Democrat contenders. Perhaps millions who often risk their lives to set foot on our shore can teach these ungrateful contenders the benefits America has to offer. Our framers had the wisdom to create a constitutional republic for the people and by the people with liberty and justice for all. It is precisely our Constitution and its underpinnings that permit men and women the opportunity to be the best they can be and to live lives they themselves create.

Currently, we have an entire Democrat party that seeks to erase those principles and replace the country with a welfare state run by big government, a government that will dole out free education, free health care, and ultimately free housing for all. It sounds so good, but a government that offers you "free stuff" can easily take it away. We saw it in the old Soviet Union, North Korea, China, Cuba, and recently in Venezuela. It's called communism, and it is often introduced as socialism. Wherever it has been tried, it has failed.
Why would we in America buy what the socialist Democrats are selling? With the lowest unemployment rate since 1969 (3.5%), a growing GDP, and the largest economy in the world, a record breaking stock market, a rebuilt military, American companies returning home, and growing security at home, why would any American seek a revolutionary transformation as sought by Democrats? Instead, we can see what their socialist ideology has wrought upon California and New York, states that once thrived and where the middle class is currently being erased. Millions are now leaving these new third-world outposts for greener pastures found in red states governed by sound economic policies and a respect for law and order.
There was a time when Democrats and Republicans shared a common vision but held a different methodology toward that common goal. However, that shared vision has fallen by the wayside as Democrats have shed our American trilogy of "in God we trust," e pluribus unum, and liberty for secularism, identity politics, and the state as regulator. Under President Trump, Americans have more money in their pockets to spend as they choose, and they have many more opportunities to invest and acquire wealth. Thus, when Bernie Sanders, a longtime communist, and Elizabeth Warren, AKA Pocahontas, rail against the wealthy and American corporations, they are railing against you and me, who have invested in these corporations or who are employed by them.
Millions around the globe can only dream of the opportunities large corporations have afforded the average American, yet if the Democrats had their way, these corporations would be put out of business. What Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez sports as her Green New Deal is actually the same Old Red Deal that can be found in the Communist Manifesto. If adopted, government will decide how our goods and products are produced and marketed. Each American would be given a government-guaranteed job, a sustained wage, family and medical leave, vacations, and retirement security while ending the use of fossil fuel. Nuclear energy would be eliminated, as would life as we know it. Instead, we would have big government, a redistribution of wealth, more government regulations, and a lower standard of living.
The average American Joe scratches his head while listening to the drivel offered by these Democrat contenders since the downtrodden America that they describe is not the average American's reality. The average American is not living in a mud hut or a shed scrounging for food as others not so fortunate do throughout the globe. At home, Americans do not want the Democrats' communist utopia. Instead, we want the opportunities to make it on our own and to be the drivers of our own destiny. That is the American ideal that has served us well for over two centuries, and that ideal can be realized only with the re-election of President Trump, who offers us a choice between socialism/communism and liberty. Come November, I predict that Americans will choose liberty.
