Joe Biden finally finds his victim identity within the Democrat Party

The Democrat Party is obsessed with identity politics.  When the Democrat primaries began, the tally sheets emerged to count the minorities (black, Asian, Hispanic), sexes (So many women!), and sexual orientations (Yay! We have a gay man).  Identities that decades ago would have been a problem were now advantages.

Democrat voters, however, including minority voters, were unimpressed.  They ignored all but the Asian and the gay candidates.  On Tuesday's debate stage, there were four white men, three of whom are old, one of whom is gay, and two older white women.  Warren, Klobuchar, and Buttigieg still hold their identity cards (Women! Gays!), Bernie has the advantage of being the crazed communist uncle whom college kids love, and nobody cares about Steyer.

But poor Biden.  He went into the debate without a victim identity.  He was just the old white man who was affiliated with Barack Obama.  Now, though, Biden is a victim, too.  It's a new type of victimhood, but one calculated to tug at the heartstrings: Biden is a "dad victim."

During Tuesday night's debate, CNN's Wolf Blitzer alluded to the fact that, once the Articles of Impeachment arrived in the Senate, Biden would be on trial:

Vice President Biden, if you're the nominee, is it going to be harder to run against President Trump if he's been acquitted and able to claim vindication, especially after what he's said about your family?

Biden, poised for this moment, pulled out his victim card (emphasis added):

It's irrelevant. There's no — there's no choice but to — for Nancy Pelosi and the House to move. He has, in fact, committed impeachable offenses. Whether the Senate makes that judgment or not, it's for them to decide.

But — and, by the way, I'm told that, you know, we — that I don't — I say we have to unite the country and it's going to be harder after this trial. It may be. But, look, you know, I understand how these guys are, this Republican Party. They've got gone after — savaged my surviving son, gone after me, told lies that your networks and others won't even carry on television because they're flat-out lies.

Feeling that Joe had a winning card, his campaign tweeted out the line later the same evening:

Before going any farther, it is a tragedy that Biden lost two of his children.  His one-year-old daughter Naomi died in 1972, along with his wife, in a car accident.  Then, in 2015, his son Beau died from cancer.  Biden's sole surviving child is Hunter.  These are tremendous personal losses and cannot be dismissed.

Having said that, Hunter has problems both personal and related to his father.  Hunter has admitted to using cocaine and crack while in college and having a serious drinking problem.  He was sober from 2003 to 2010, when he had a relapse.  He's had an unknown number of relapses since then.

In 2013, Hunter signed up for the Naval Reserve, which gave him a special waiver because of his drug history.  On his first day, he failed a drug test.

In 2015, Hunter left his wife 22 years.  A year later, he took up with his dead brother Beau's wife.  While he was dating Beau's wife, he impregnated a stripper in Arkansas.  Not long after, having abandoned both Beau's wife and the stripper, he married a South African filmmaker who is now pregnant.

During child support proceedings with the Arkansas woman, it emerged that Hunter, who earned vast sums of money from Ukraine and China, was hiding financial documents and crying poor.  Also, he had used his dead brother's name to check into a rehab center.

Regarding Ukraine and China, everyone knows by now that, when Joe Biden was vice president, Hunter followed him around and collected lucrative contracts that paid him and his companies millions of dollars.  This was so even though Hunter had no qualifications to justify the money paid other than having a father who was a vice president.

It's tragic that Biden lost two of his three children, and it's sweet that he loves his surviving son.  It's also cheap and tawdry that Biden is trying to drape himself in the obligatory Democrat victim mantle by pointing to his pathetic, sleazy son, both as a way for Biden to advance his own political career and to avoid scrutiny into his own corruption.
