Humoring a Demon: Top six ways Democrats coddled Soleimani
If you want to know why Democrats are so hell-bent on condemning President Trump's wipe-out of Iran's Number Two, Qassem Soleimani, maybe a look at their record with this guy can tell some of the story.
This demon (as Mancow so flawlessly characterized him) was a powerful guy in hellhole Iran, and he extended his brutality well beyond Iran's borders. He was responsible for the killings of hundreds of Americans in Iraq and beyond. He amassed his power because under the Obama administration, favors were done in a way that enabled him to rise as Iran's Quds Force commander, racking up victory after victory at our expense. Democrats helped him a lot in his revolting journey, dating from the genesis of the Ben Rhodes–Barack Obama Iran deal.
Here's a list of the top six things the Democrats did to enable him to get as powerful and depraved in his activity as he did:
6. Travel: This guy was under U.S. and U.N. sanctions, and nominally forbidden to travel anywhere, yet he traveled anywhere he wanted to go with abandon. Flying commercial, he used planes full of unwitting people he was onboard with as human shields to deter rocket attacks, but he still had no trouble getting onboard. And according to the Washington Post, that was useful, indeed:
Such travel, however, has been a mainstay of Soleimani's work for decades as the leader of Iran's Quds Force, a special squad focused on overseas operations, among other intelligence missions, as part of the elite Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
Sanctions were nonsense, U.N. or U.S., because with Democrats in power, nobody was stopping him. He got used to the routine before President Trump got finished with him.
5. Impunity. As American Thinker contributor Dan Sobieski notes today, Soleimani attempted to bomb Washington and its elites in a plot to murder the Saudi ambassador in Washington in 2011. The idea was to blow up a restaurant full of people. Sobieski writes:
Think about this for a moment. Hillary Clinton was Secretary of State, Eric Holder was attorney general, and Robert Mueller was FBI director when Iranian general and Quds Force commander Soleimani oversaw the planning of a terrorist attack on American soil that could have killed hundreds of Americans including some of the Washington elites.
No consequences whatsoever to him — the Democrats were so hell-bent on ensuring that the Iran deal went through that the little issue of him trying to kill us went without notice. And it was hardly his only attempt to kill Americans.
4. Free cities: As American Thinker columnist Clarice Feldman noted Sunday, the Obama administration allowed Soleimani to take Tikrit in 2015. Citing an article by Lee Smith, here are the deets:
Obama made his preference for Iran and its allies clear — in Lebanon, Syria, and most obviously in Iraq where the White House ordered air strikes on ISIS positions that allowed various Iranian-backed outfits, under the leadership of Qassem Suleimani, to take Tikrit.
3. U.S. residency for the kids: Under the terms of the Iran deal, an Iranian official claimed that the children of the elites were jockeying among themselves about who would get U.S. green cards or U.S. citizenship as part of the Iran deal. According to this Fox News report, apparently, this was a big deal among Iran's oppressive elites, getting your kid into the States, same as it is in every third-world hellhole, and we all know that somehow, some of Soleimani's kids managed to make their way into the U.S. to become citizens. The details are muddy, and the Washington Post assures that it's all nonsense, blaming Trump rather than investigating why the Iranian official would say something like that, but what's most telling that the U.S. has never issued an explicit denial. The Obama administration seems to have handed some out some kind of right of residency to Iran's elites like party favors for their princeling children, or, at a minimum, made the visas available, and the elites got to decide who got them, and it sure as heck wasn't the dissidents. That would explain the jockeying. At least one of Soleimani's got hers, that American citizenship millions of people worldwide would swim rivers or ride inner tube rafts on the high seas for, with no problem.
2. Pallets of cash: Where did that $1.7 billion in pallet cash, delivered in the dead of night (so U.S. voters wouldn't know), go? Almost all of it went to make war abroad —Houthis, Iraqis, anything with a terrorist footprint on it. According to Bill Gertz, writing in the Washington Times:
The U.S. government has traced some of the $1.7 billion released to Iran by the Obama administration to Iranian-backed terrorists in the two years since the cash was transferred.
According to knowledgeable sources, Iran has used the funds to pay its main proxy, the Lebanon-based terrorist group Hezbollah, along with the Quds Force, Iran's main foreign intelligence and covert action arm and element of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps.
The U.S. money supplied to Iran as part of an arms settlement dating back to the 1970s also has been traced to Iran's backing of Houthi rebels seeking to take power in Yemen. Iran has been supporting the Yemen rebels as part of a bid to encircle and eventually take control of Saudi Arabia.
Who was in charge of those Iranian operations? Soleimani. And cash, outside traceable bank transactions, is so very very useful in secret and illegal terrorist endeavors, isn't it? Any questions as to why Soleimani was called the second most powerful person in Iran after the chief mullah, Ali Khamenei? The Obama administration showered this beast with cash.
1. Free Security Service: When Israel made plans to take out Soleimani, the Obama administration got wind of it and not only tried to stop it with the Israelism it ... warned Soleimani about the plans. According to the Jerusalem Post:
According to Al-Jarida, Israel had sought to assassinate Soleimani three years before in 2014-2015 but the US "warned the Iranian leadership of the plan." A similar report by Marzieh Kouhi-Essfahani in a book on Iranian policy claimed in 2014 that the Obama administration pressured Israel not to target Soleimani.
It's always nice to have friends in high places.
The Democrats have coddled this guy for years, always going out of their way to ensure he had all the luxuries and conveniences a number-two from Iran might think he's entitled to have. Green cards, security, free travel, military victories to wear medals for, impunity, money, it was all there with the Democrats gunning for him. It's a disgusting record, but it explains a lot about why Democrats are so upset at his demise. They've coddled him for years, he was their 'investment' of sorts. Some investment. They ought to be answering questions about each and every one of these outrages against the American people.
