A fatal flaw in the liberal character
I think most conservatives live in the moment way better than liberals. "Liberal" is a sort of umbrella term; it encompasses leftist, progressive, and maniac.
Liberals live in a dimension of only two personal time zones: the present and the near future. Conservatives consider a third element; we call it the past. The liberal acknowledges a past that is only a craven reflection of reality; it is full of caricature and devoid of character.
It is easy to point out the bad side of human nature if that is all you're looking for.
If you read at all as a child, you opened up your personality for self-consideration. I hope at one time in your life you imagined yourself floating shoeless down the Mississippi on a raft, just knowing you were the lowest of the low.
An imaginative look at the past enables you to recognize and try to understand how different people react and, a step farther, examine how you would react as compared to how you should react.
Liberals focus on only two fronts: what they want right now and what they want ten minutes from now. It's this lack of self-perspective as part of a long history that restrains a liberal from taking the final step into ease with oneself, a necessary deed if one is to truly empathize with others.
I sit and (try to) read through ancient or just old music on a regular basis. It is amazing how creative and imaginative people have always been. It humbles you to recognize that your personal genius can never match the brilliance so many incredibly wise people left you as inheritance.
Liberals miss out on the richness, the colors, the texture of life. Their ego demands that they be at the forefront of mankind's long history. They cannot see that neither their ideologies nor their moral certitude leaves them squarely in the middle of the pack when compared to all human history. They are not nearly as unique or "modern" as they believe themselves.
Blindness to history blurred by a focus on only right now and ten minutes from now poisons one third of the liberal view.

It is a narrow view. It is also an inflexible view.
The most obvious example of historical blindness is communism or Marxism or socialism or Democratic Socialism or whatever liberals want to rename it so that nobody will know that this is one awful idea that has killed millions upon millions of people — killed people in recent and viewable history.
It won't do to just blast capitalism when you possess no real and workable alternative that won't kill millions upon millions.
The arc toward a better society has always taken a gentle bend. Impatient liberals want everybody to snap up at right angles right now and make their world perfect today. Right now! That or they will hate you for a relentless eternity.
Just look at the headlong rush to impeach DJT. Liberals want it right now this week, spit-spot. They tell us the Constitution will soon crumble, our democracy will shortly die, and our way of life will surely wither. They tell us the very values we stand for will disappear from the face of the Earth.
I suspect there is a clog in the drain.
Fear of the future is caused by ignorance of the past.
Liberals are caused by the same type of ignorance.
