Are you ready for 'Galentines Day'?

Everyone has heard of "Festivus" - the sitcom created holiday that replaces Christmas in some leftist circles. There's now another "holiday" created by a sitcom. It's called "Galentines Day" and it's exclusively for women.

Federalist:

This “holiday” is the invention of “Parks and Recreation” character Leslie Knope. As she explained in the 2010 episode, “Every February 13th, my lady friends and I leave our husbands and our boyfriends at home, and we just come and kick it, breakfast-style. Ladies celebrating ladies. It’s like Lilith Fair, minus the angst. Plus frittatas.”

There is apparently a cottage industry of Galentines Day gifts growing up around the holiday:

Martha Stewart Weddings is also getting in on the action, with a list of “Galentine’s Day Gifts for Your (Other) Soulmate.” The list includes stereotypical gal gifts. It also includes a “The Future is Female” T-shirt. The site says, “For the friend who wears her feminism on her sleeve. Bonus: If you buy the sweatshirt, 25 percent goes to Planned Parenthood.”

HelloGiggles pitches an “I’m What a Feminist Looks Like Journal” to its readers for Galentine’s Day. Romper, a website that focuses on parenthood for aging millennials, says Galentine’s Day is “the awesomely feminist counterpart to Valentine’s Day.”

I guess love and devotion are not in the feminist lexicon anymore.

I get it. Solidarity with the sisterhood and all that. Since women are different then men and inhabit a different emotional universe, they have special relationships with their female friends that men don't have. I see no cause for resentment. It's the way things are and the way they have always been.

The author of this Federalist piece, Lisa De Pasquale, explains the true meaning of Galentines Day:

Because of the absence of real, widespread discrimination against women, SJWs must create it. Propping up Galentine’s Day as a holiday isn’t about celebrating women, but tearing down men and shoehorning an SJW agenda into existing traditions. For example, HuffPost discussed how to refer to non-binary lovers in 2016. How long until we hear demands that drugstores carry “To My Beloved Bothfriend” cards?

Anything and everything that is "traditional" becomes a target. And even love is politicized - along with everything else:

Sarah Hoyt:

The sad thing is that if we allow this poison to spread, if we allow leftists to take more and more debatable things out of the debatable sphere and instead enshrine them as political, which is to say “If you disagree with me, you’re a Nazi,” everything else will die too.

It’s becoming hard to imagine any area of science, commerce or mere social interaction that is safe.

It’s time we start reclaiming sanity.  It’s time to say loud and clear “No, that’s not political.  It’s whatever” (science, history, entertainment). “And you claiming it’s political is either bad faith or ignorance.  Now let the adults talk.”

The catchphrase of the "New Left" when I was a kid was "The personal is political." Now, the new "New Left" has adopted the phrase as ideology. When feminists decided that sex between two consenting adults - even married couples - was rape, somebody should have stood up then and called them out for their utter silliness. Instead, leftists are taking them seriously.

Lenin would have been proud of them.
