Hillary’s sophisticated staff
For anyone still paying attention, FBI director James Comey has provided a virtual if not legal indictment of Hillary Clinton’s capabilities as an executive. He firmly established that she is still the congenital liar that Bill Safire observed twenty years ago. He has also drawn back the curtain to expose her as another Inspector Clouseau, like your doddering elderly aunt who can barely operate a flip phone with those oversized buttons.
Although invested as an Original Classification Authority in her role as secretary of state, Hillary apparently is not sophisticated enough to understand the use of portion markings (classification abbreviation in parentheses – [TS], [S], [C], or [U] – immediately following and to the right of the title or subject) on classified documents.
Here is the continuing mystery: how did the confidential, secret, and top secret information (contained in then classified 52 email chains) jump the gap from the realm of secure classified computer networks onto Hillary’s unclassified servers?
There are several ways this could happen. If we take Mr. Comey’s assertions at face value, these methods were all well beyond Hillary’s grasp, but in fact they can easily be accomplished by anyone who can manage to make his own color copies at Staples.
The original classified information could be captured by printing a hard copy, then scanning it into the unclassified system. Or by retyping the text. Or by downloading the source document onto removable media like a thumb drive. Each of these actions is a felony violation of federal law regarding the proper handling of classified information.
Certainly there was someone on Hillary’s staff who was sophisticated enough to execute this process. Let’s review the likely suspects. Cheryl Mills was Hillary’s chief of staff at the State Department. Ms. Mills is an attorney, CEO, and board member of the Clinton Foundation.
Huma Abedin may be viewed as a glorified handmaiden/fashion consultant, but she managed to pull down two paychecks simultaneously as a State Department employee and consultant for Teneo, and she is now the vice chair for Hillary’s presidential campaign.
Jake Sullivan is an attorney who served as Joe Biden’s national security adviser following his role as Hillary’s deputy chief of staff at the State Department.
Last but not least is Brian Pagliano. He set up Hillary’s personal server while being paid as a private consultant to the Clinton family, but he did not disclose this job as required upon joining the State Department as an information technology specialist. He may have all of the answers, but he is not talking after being granted immunity by the Justice Department.
All of this impressive brainpower would need to be harnessed to assist Helpless Hillary in sending her emails and conducting business at the State Department. Will anyone ever be held accountable for these multiple security breaches? Thrown under the bus by the Clinton Machine or prosecuted by the Justice Department? One can only hope, but the prospects seem dim.
