Hillary and the supermarket checkout line
The first thing I thought of, when I saw this National Enquirer at the grocery store the other day, was that Hillary’s been “Swiftboated.” This had to make Camp Hillary cringe. Lots of folks buy groceries. And there it was: checkout line after checkout line after checkout line. Where I was, there was an echo effect.
Hillary corrupt. Hillary corrupt. Hillary Corrupt.
And frankly, with the exception of the Democrats at the Comey hearing, no one disputes that. So, while commentators lament Donald Trump’s lack of television advertising, his message continues to get out there. Hillary’s being defined in the media a lot more than she’s defining Trump. Hillary’s email scandal remains the gift that keeps on giving. She can run, but she can’t hide. She’s even making Trump look good by comparison.
Globally, voters have weighted the elites in their scales and found their policies and platitudes wanting. Increasingly the hoi polloi are in a mood to turn The Apprentice on its ear and fire the boss. Why? Mostly because elitist policies have failed. Thus, if George Will and William Kristol and some other old-time GOPers wish to take their bat and ball and pout in petulant annoyance of a candidate who promotes “making America great again,” so be it. But they shouldn’t expect an invitation to the party in November.
