Deepak Chopra says Trump is 'mentally retarded'

I once referred to New Age guru and alternative medicine quack Deepak Chopra as the "Mahareshi of Mendacity."  Turns out I was too kind.

Chopra told Alan Colmes, "Maybe I was too kind when I said he [Trump] was emotionally retarded.  Maybe he's mentally retarded, too."

This may be projection on Chopra's part, because he went on to blame Trump for "bringing out the worst" in him.  Apparently, the empty-headed mystic just can't control the evil thoughts Trump inspires in him.

Daily Beast:

“I would never say this unless I believed it was 100 percent true, but he represents the racist, the bigot, the one who’s prejudiced, the one who is full of fear and hatred, the one who represents emotional retardation of a 3-year old,” he said Tuesday. “And yet he’s so popular because he’s given permission to our collective psyche to express their darkest demons.

I'm sure he meant "emotional maturity" of a three-year-old, but don't stop him now.  He's on a roll:

The guru lamented how The Donald brings out the ‘worst’ in America—and then proceeded to lob insults.

The political rise of Donald Trump is so disturbing, even New Age guru Deepak Chopra has lost his good vibes.

In an interview Tuesday with Fox News Radio host Alan Colmes, the famed preacher of Transcendental Meditation and alternative medicine unleashed on the presumptive Republican nominee, using a pejorative to describe his mental capacities.

“He’s full of fear. He is angry. He has a lot of hatred. He pouts, he’s belligerent, he’s emotionally retarded,” the mindfulness meditation advocate reiterated.

In a Huffington Post column earlier this week, Chopra wrote that Trump has brought out the “shadow” in American politics—the “dark impulses” inside everyone, including himself.

“What I said just now [about Trump’s ‘retardation’], I would never say these things about anybody,” the guru confessed. “It’s not like me. But he’s bringing out the worst in me, because I, too, am fearful of what would happen to the United States of America and the rest of the world if, God forbid, he became president.”

After several minutes of scorning himself for giving into such negative “demons,” effectively feeding Trump’s desire for controversy, Chopra took it a step further: “Maybe I was too kind when I said he was emotionally retarded, maybe he’s mentally retarded too.

Chopra's intellect isn't just depthless.  You would need to use an electron microscope to find it.  But he's smart enough to hit all the Clinton talking points about Trump, so at least he's got value as a parrot.

For the record, the generally accepted maximum I.Q. for a mentally retarded person is 80.  I think it safe to say Trump's I.Q. is far higher than that.

Why Chopra continues to insist he is qualified to comment on American politics is beyond me.  His towering ignorance of our history and culture should disqualify him from making observations about anything except how best to get into a trance to get in touch with your inner god.

But he can certainly be entertaining when displaying his ignorance.
