Where’s Melania?
I am 32 years married. My wife (and kids) literally saved my life. Prior to my marriage, I was a knucklehead. Bad decisions upon bad decisions. Impulsiveness, debauchery, lust, drugs, drunkenness, you name it.
My wife calmed me (a bit) and gave my life new purpose. I was and am still me, but I have been able to channel my energies toward building – a family, career, some wealth, friends, faith, and most importantly, a better me.
Occasionally, I still enjoy the random weekend “with the guys.” A time where we let loose and relive our lost youth. Beer 30. “It’s 5 o’clock somewhere.” Caution to the wind. Physical antics, which the body takes (much) longer to recover from.
But at the end of the day, I take a step back and tell myself: Self, don’t screw it up! Oftentimes, it is also my wife, reminding me that “you’re not as young as you used to be.” You see, she and I are equals. I respect her. She respects me.
This brings us to Donald and Melania Trump, and Corey Lewandowski. Donald and Corey seem as if they’re on a year-long bender. Fraternity hijinks gone wrong. Pushing the envelope and seeing how far their pranks will go, until someone (else) gets hurt.
Where’s Melania? If she were an equal in their relationship, at some point you’d think she’d say to Donald, “What the hell are you doing?” “You’re embarrassing yourself.” “You’re embarrassing me, and your kids.” “Knock that stuff off” (adjusted for the censors).
Every frat party gets interesting when someone says, “Watch this.”
Donald’s and Corey’s antics, as all antics are, were interesting when they were fresh. Watching them have to up the ante, with each and every antic, makes for “bad television,”,as they say.
Donald Trump is entertaining, no doubt. He is good for ratings, but so is are extreme sports, bloopers, train wrecks, blowin’ stuff up, etc.
A weekend of Donald Trump is enough. It is time for someone (Melania) to shake Donald, and suggest to him that his antics have run their course. Someone (else) is gonna get hurt.
The Donald and Corey show was fun. Now it’s pathetic.
