Poll: Overwhelming opposition to giving illegal immigrants voting rights
A new poll by Rasmussen Reports shows that Americans clearly reject proposals, such as the one made in New York City, to give illegal immigrants the right to vote.
According to the survey, 71% of respondents oppose letting illegal immigrants vote for local officials in the area where they live. Just 19% are in favor of the policy.
Two thirds of those polled say that even if illegal immigrants can prove they live in the United States and pay taxes, they should not be allowed to vote, while 26% would support giving the illegal aliens voting rights if these preconditions were met.
