A German television station has been criticized for showing Chancellor Angela Merkel dressed up in a burka.
An image of Angela Merkel wearing a traditional Iranian Islamic headscarf has caused controversy in Germany.
ARD television was inundated with complaints after it broadcast a mocked-up picture of Mrs Merkel wearing the garment, known as a chador, against a backdrop of the Reichstag surrounded by minarets.
“This is not constructive journalism. Ugh!” read one comment on the programme’s Facebook page.
“The mood turns because of such defamation and propaganda. So yes it’s true: integration cannot succeed.”
The broadcaster defended the use of the image. “Of course it was also the of this artwork to provoke and polarise opinion,” it said in a statement.
“We consider this satirical form of representation to be in keeping with our journalistic values. We reject any insinuation that we would operate Islamophobic propaganda.”
Islamophic propaganda? Are the hundreds of thousands of people being killed in Syria and Iraq being killed by "Islamophobia"? Are the Jews being hunted and killed in Europe dying of "Islamophobia"? What about the Mohammad cartoonists? What is killing them?
The fact is that Merkel is importing hundreds of thousands of Muslims from the Middle East. Many are fleeing an intolerent culture while paradoxically trying to create that same intolerant culture in their new homes. Additionally, a subset of those will join ISIS or al-Qaeda and try to kill German citizens.
The daily Berliner Zeitung ran a commentary Tuesday arguing that ARD had gone too far. “Does a public television broadcaster . . . have the right to show chancellor Merkel veiled by a black chador against a background of the Reichstag compound dotted with minarets? . . . Yes. The ARD does have the right. But it should not do it. Because by doing so, it stokes up resentment and fear toward people who need our help,” commentator Melanie Reinsch wrote.
These people who "need their help" will repay that help by installing a fundamentalist culture and bringing death and destruction to Germany. I'm willing to bet money that Ms. Reinsch doesn't live in a Muslim-majority neighborhood and wouldn't enjoy it much if she did.
Believe it or not, Muslims are already trying to ban Oktoberfest because of claims that it is "anti-Islamic."
Angela Merkel is contributing to the destruction of her country. The satire is painful because it is so accurate, and because what is happening in Germany is so blatantly bad.
