Fight the Taliban without enabling Afghan homosexual pedophiles

President Obama's appointment of an "openly" gay Army secretary seems to be unrelated to the story of American soldiers being disciplined for intervening when seeing our Afgan "allies" rape young boys, which seems to be a disturbingly common practice in Afghan culture.  But it is an unfortunate coincidence that the story comes to light at nearly the same time.

Joseph Goldstein writes in the New York Times:

Rampant sexual abuse of children has long been a problem inAfghanistanparticularly among armed commanders who dominate much of the rural landscape and can bully the population. The practice is called bacha bazi, literally “boy play,” and American soldiers and Marines have been instructed not to intervene — in some cases, not even when their Afghan allies have abused boys on military bases, according to interviews and court records.

The policy has endured as American forces have recruited and organized Afghan militias to help hold territory against the Taliban. But soldiers and Marines have been increasingly troubled that instead of weeding out pedophiles, the American military was arming them in some cases and placing them as the commanders of villages — and doing little when they began abusing children.

The policy of instructing soldiers to ignore child sexual abuse by their Afghan allies is coming under new scrutiny, particularly as it emerges that service members like Captain Quinn have faced discipline, even career ruin, for disobeying it.

After the beating, the Army relieved Captain Quinn of his command and pulled him from Afghanistan. He has since left the military.

We should not be silent enablers of these evil people.  Not only are many in the Afgan armed forces homosexual pedophiles, but they are also heavily involved with the drug trade.  Additionally, a significant number of them murder American soldiers in euphemistically labeled "green on blue" incidents.  (An example of the euphemism: GI Joe wasn't murdered by Afgan soldiers he was training; he was a casualty of a "green on blue incident."  Kind of like replacing "infanticide" with "abortion.")

We have given billions of dollars to the Afghan government, most of which has gone into the pockets of corrupt officials.  We have spent 14 years training an army that falls to pieces the instant we leave it, who takes soldiers' wages and money for weapons and reallocates it to officers' bank accounts.

Enough is enough.  We should stop supporting this corrupt and morally evil government.

But what about the Taliban?  They already control large parts of the countryside.  The central government rules from Kabul but doesn't have much authority beyond there.  Regional warlords control everything else.

We should stop giving money to prop up these criminals.  We should instead take an air base in the north and keep a careful watch on the Taliban.  If they once again set up training camps for terrorists, we should help in their training by teaching them to dodge missiles from drones, helicopters, and bombers.  If we see a particular individual of interest, we should send in a team for rapid extraction and then have a quiet, calm, and at times submerged talk with this individual, all the while strictly observing the rules of the Geneva Conventions for terrorists (there are none).  Beyond that, we should stay out of it.  The Afghans have been murdering, raping, narco-trafficking, and mutilating women for centuries.  At the very least, we shouldn't be subsidizing it.

Oh, and whoever ordered our soldiers to be disciplined for saving kids from homosexual pedophiles should be fired.
