Bush and Trump accuse each other of perverted acts of love

Isn't Donald Trump great?  I mean, I still don't fully trust him, but I simply love how he is making Jeb Bush squirm.  Trump produced a short web ad juxtaposing Bush's famous "illegal immigration is an act of love" speech with photos of illegal alien killers.

Perhaps it's not a totally fair comparison, since Bush certainly was speaking generally and probably would not include murderers in his acts of love-making.  But on the other hand, perhaps it's a mostly fair comparison, since Bush seems to paint with a broad brush about the supposed benefits of illegal aliens but never the costs.  Have you ever heard Bush to say that any illegal alien ever did anything wrong, or is less than totally virtuous?  I haven't.  What the ad is doing is showing that Bush is more sympathetic to illegals than he is to American citizens.

But Jeb is fighting back!  Bush says that Trump is soft on crime because he supported liberal politicians.  Witness Trump's "act of love" toward Nancy Pelosi:

Bush's campaign responded hours later with a post on its campaign website contrasting Bush's record as "tough on crime" with Trump's. "Trump even supported Nancy Pelosi-who supported sanctuary cities," the text reads. And beneath Bush's bullet-pointed response is a photo of a front page of the New York Times showing Pelosi's swearing in as House Speaker in 2007, autographed and inscribed by Trump to Pelosi; it reads: "Nancy, you are the greatest! Good luck!"

But then Bush loses me with defeatist claims that deporting illegals would cost hundreds of billions of dollars.

Mr. Trump's immigration plan is not conservative; would violate the Constitution; and would cost hundreds of billions of dollars[.]

Will Bush's counter-ad work?  Probably not.  Voters already know Trump had liberal friends and liberal positions.  Republican primary voters don't seem to care what Trump's views were last year or even two months ago as long as he is forceful and entertaining now.

Republican voters will care more about Bush's "act of love" comments, because Bush says that this reflects his current thinking.  No ambiguity there.  So Trump wins this round.

Waiting in the wings are Bush's vast army of orcs, massed behind the Black Gate of Mordor to take on the Tea Party Hobbits, as the Wall Street Journal called them.  The word on the street is that "D Day" (D for Donald?) is going to be sometime after Labor Day, when voters are presumed to be paying more attention.  That's when Bush's (and perhaps Walker's and perhaps Rubio's) PACs may come out swinging.  Walker, by the way, denies he will be part of it, so that probably means he is extremely likely to join in.
