The unfortunate symbolism of environmental fanatics
A bunch of environmental fanatics hung by ropes from a bridge, hoping to block a ship that was going to look for oil in the Arctic.
Activists who have spent more than 24 hours dangling from an Oregon bridge to protest Shell’s plans to drill in the Arctic vowed to sustain their human barricade, after they joined kayakers in the water below to block an icebreaking ship from leaving Portland.
According to the Greenpeace blog, the icebreaker Fennica leased by Shell was prevented on Wednesday from joining the rest of the drilling fleet in the Arctic. Unless it does so, the company will be unable to proceed with drilling in the Chukchi Sea. The vessel is carrying a piece of equipment that is used to cap an oil well in the event of a blowout.
But I have to wonder if the Greenpeace fanatics thought about the symbolism of their protest before engaging in it. When I first saw the picture above, I thought, "Oh my God, it's just like Fallujah!" – the bridge where Arab extremists hung American contractors.
I think the selection of this form of protest is more than mere coincidence. Environmentalists value trees and birds and fish, but they place zero value on human lives. They are the worst sort of misanthropes. It's not an exaggeration to say they hate people and think they are a stain on the Earth.
But since the radicals themselves are also people (a conclusion they are probably quite uncomfortable with), probably they are also self-hating misanthropes. Given that, I can't help but wonder if they purposefully wanted to hang themselves, to enjoy even symbolically ridding the Earth of some people, even if it was themselves.
The image of this symbolic self-hanging tells you everything you need to know about the modern-day environmental movement. They have unintentionally created the perfect imagery that exposes their truly hateful ideology.
By the way, if you check the link to the article above, you will see that one of the spokeswomen for the people hanging themselves is black! If they were anything but a hard-left group doing this, don't you think Obama would speak out against it, and the media would brand them racists? What do you think would happen if black conservatives suspended themselves by ropes from a bridge in Baltimore to protest black-on-black violence? Probably, I'm guessing, it would get a very different reaction.
