Three days after the GOP debate, the topic on Sunday’s news shows was still Donald Trump vs. Megyn Kelly.  Trump  refused to apologize for his follow-up comments criticizing Kelly for her “off-base, ridiculous” questions.  Kelly countered Trump’s criticism, saying, “If you  can’t get past me, how are you gonna handle Vladimir Putin?”

Forget the dismemberment and selling of human beings going on at Planned Parenthood, or the 94 million people out of work, or the Obamas taking off for another vacation with their fat-cat friends on Martha’s Vineyard, or veterans getting the shaft while illegals receive free health care, or Iranian barbarians pocketing $150 billion of our hard-earned money – the media folks were hashing out whether Trump was referring to Kelly’s monthly cycle when he told Don Lemon Friday night, “There was blood coming out of her eyes, and coming out of wherever.”

By now most Americans know that if Donald Trump had meant Megyn Kelly was spewing hatred because it was that time of month, he would have owned it.  As he owned calling Rosie O’Donnell a “fat pig.”  As usual, the media is controlling the message.  It was pretty clear from the Don Lemon interview that Trump’s “blood in her eyes” statement got away from him and the words “and wherever” came out.  Trump told Jake Tapper, “Do you think I would make a stupid statement like that? … [O]nly a sick person would even think about it.”

With Trump supporters threatening to boycott Fox News and high-profile conservatives like Mark Levin telling Fox and Kelly to apologize to the American people for their tabloid-style debate, the hosting moderator came out with her own statement.  Kelly told Howard Kurtz it wasn’t an attack; the question was fair, and “it’s okay there’s some consternation”; she’s “a big girl.”

Why has Megyn Kelly’s attempt to portray Trump as a sexist caused trouble for the network?  Partly because people have grown weary of this fake war on women.  If Megyn Kelly had shown some spine and started the debate by asking Trump a relevant question about a real issue facing concerned Americans, instead of channeling Candy Crowley and Katie Couric, she and Fox News wouldn’t be on the ropes  right now.

But it’s not surprising the Fox superstar turned a blind eye to Americans suffering through the last seven years.  In December 2014, during an appearance on the Jimmy Kimmel show, a giggly Kelly apologized to Barack Obama on air for becoming tongue-tied and saying the wrong thing at the White House’s annual Christmas party.  In 2010 she was a guest on Howard Stern’s radio show, where she unabashedly discussed her husband’s penis size, her breasts, and her sex life, in that order.

So is all this Kelly versus Trump back-and-forth insignificant?  Hardly.  The Russian writer Alexander Solzhenitsyn once suggested that countries go down because of media personalities like Megyn Kelly.  The willful dissemination by “journalists” of the trivial and the irrelevant is “dangerous,” says the dissident.

From Solzhenitsyn’s 1978 Harvard address:

What sort of responsibility does a journalist or a newspaper have to his readers, or to his history -- or to history? If they have misled public opinion or the government by inaccurate information or wrong conclusions…. A nation may be the victim of such a mistake, but the journalist usually always gets away with it.

…Because instant and credible information has to be given, it becomes necessary to resort to guesswork, rumors, and suppositions to fill in the voids, and none -- and none of them will ever be rectified; they will stay on in the readers' memories. How many hasty, immature, superficial, and misleading judgments are expressed every day, confusing readers, without any verification.

The press -- The press can both simulate public opinion and miseducate it.. we may witness shameless intrusion on the privacy of well-known people under the slogan: "Everyone is entitled to know everything." But this is a false slogan, characteristic of a false era. People also have the right not to know and it's a much more valuable one. The right not to have their divine souls [stuffed with gossip, nonsense, vain talk.]

… in the West fashionable trends of thought and ideas are carefully separated from those which are not fashionable; nothing is forbidden, but what is not fashionable will hardly ever find its way into periodicals or books or be heard in colleges.

The fashionable herd behind Megyn Kelly already gave us two losers in 2008 and 2012.  Now the puppet master big-time donors want to manipulate the 2016 election.  No wonder the latest post-debate NBC poll has Trump still leading the pack at 23%.  Looks as if the American people are sick and tired of the ruling-class media choosing their candidates. 

Former green jobs czar and self-avowed communist Van Jones told Don Lemon in 2014 that Democratic Party “were shaking in our boots” when Sarah Palin walked out on the stage in August 2008 – well, ditto for Trump in 2015.  Unlike Palin, will the fearless, brash, take-no-prisoners real estate mogul survive the onslaught long enough to make this country great again?
