Hackers crack dating site for married people, adulterers frantic

AshleyMadison.com, the largest website in the world for married people looking to date someone other than their spouses, was hacked recently.  Members are worried that their personal information is going to be revealed.

For those of you familiar only with old-style dating websites for so-called "single" people, AshleyMadison features members who openly admit they are married but looking to make love to strangers on the side.

Their motto is "Life is short. Have an affair." – with a photo of a woman with a finger on her lips, possibly a symbolic promise not to call your wife after your illicit rendezvous.

Profiles look very much like they do on traditional dating websites...

...except perhaps for the questions about bondage, spanking, threesomes, being a slave, and being open to "experimentation".

According to Wikipedia, the website has nearly 100 million members and receives roughly 1,800,000 unique visitors per month[.]

Here was one woman's experience:

I waited for all of six minutes until my profile was approved. Then the floodgates opened.

Ashley Madison claims to have a gender split of seven men for every three women, and I felt that imbalance immediately.

Every day, I was “winked” at about 50 times.

After two weeks I had more than 1000 messages.

I felt like the only plate of food on a table surrounded by starving men, all of whom were dreadful spellers.

The hackers are threatening to release personal information of the users unless AshleyMadison shuts down.

“Avid Life Media has been instructed to take Ashley Madison and Established Men offline permanently in all forms, or we will release all customer records, including profiles with all the customers’ secret sexual fantasies and matching credit card transactions, real names and addresses, and employee documents and emailss...” the group’s statement reads.

So how do you feel about this?  Do you feel sympathy for the adulterers?  Or does this simply give you a hearty laugh?
