Why Hillary Clinton is the Night's King from 'Game of Thrones'
Last week on Game of Thrones we were introduced to the Night's King, the leader of a gang of vicious zombies who attacked a colony of Game of Thrones eskimo people. When the zombies had finished killing everyone they could (except for Jon Snow, the hero – he's a very good runner), the Night's King raised his hands, and the dead rose, becoming his soldiers.
For some reason this made me think of Hillary Clinton when I read this article:
Democrats allied with Hillary Rodham Clinton are mounting a nationwide legal battle 17 months before the 2016 presidential election, seeking to roll back Republican-enacted restrictions on voter access that Democrats say could, if unchallenged, prove decisive in a close campaign.
On Thursday, Mrs. Clinton will tackle the issue of voter access head-on at Texas Southern University, a historically black college in Houston, in a speech that will tie voting rights to broader civil rights issues. She is expected to condemn the Supreme Court’s 2013 rulingstriking down an important provision of the Voting Rights Act, which opened the way for states to pass increasingly restrictive laws requiring voters to present government-issued photo identification at the polls, and call on Congress to re-enact parts of the law.
She will also propose a nationwide early-voting standard of at least 20 days before an election, call for an increase in online voter registration and restate her position that former felons should have their voting rights restored.
All these initiatives would make it easier for people to commit voter fraud. If people don't need to provide voter ID, fraud is childishly simple, on a massive scale. Couple that with a 20-day voting period, and the same people can commit fraud over and over again during a 20-day period, each time at different voting precincts. Why is it that people need 20 days to vote anyway? No one is that busy. There is no legitimate argument against voter ID, or the need to give people three weeks to vote.
And then I made the connection to the Night's King. When Democrats commit fraud, one common way they do it is to use the names of deceased voters who are still on the voter registration roles. There's a very old joke that goes, "My father was a loyal Republican voter until the day he died. Then he became a liberal Democrat."
By making it easier for her forces to commit fraud, Hillary Clinton is like the Night's King, using the names of dead people to strengthen her voting forces.
Unfortunately, in the past the Republican nominee has been much like the wimpy, pouty Jon Snow, afraid to take on opponents. Hopefully that will change this time, depending on who wins the Game of Thrones.
