What's Not to Hate?
What’s not to hate about an ideology whose very founding document requires that Jews be either subjugated or murdered? What’s not to hate about followers of that ideology who call for the complete destruction of the Jews’ homeland nation -- and its Jewish inhabitants as well? What’s not to hate about an ideology in whose name followers commit barbarous acts of terrorism against Jews in many corners of the Earth, including places a far flung as India, Paris, Tel Aviv, Argentina, and, most recently, a thwarted murderous effort in our own backyard at Garland, Texas?
Well, the New York Times editorial board doesn’t see it quite that way. From the viewpoint of its pundits, the fault lies with a young woman who is an outspoken critic of the barbarism practiced by the Islamic terrorists, Pam Geller, who expends tremendous effort to expose and condemn their vicious behavior.
In today’s editorials, we read that she is the hater, with “a long history of declarations and actions motivated purely by hatred for Muslims.” Not only that, but, “As for the Garland event, to pretend that it was motivated by anything other than hate is simply hogwash.” So, the Times is back to the blame-the-victim litany that has so often been spouted by the Jews’ enemies against them. Not surprising.
And as long as we’re considering today’s Times edition (May 7), be it noted that as soon as word came down that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had succeeded in forming a government coalition following his electoral victory, the Gray Lady sprang into Bibi-bashing action with an op-ed by notorious Israel denigrator Shmuel Rosner thoroughly condemning Netanyahu, his government, and the Israeli electorate.
