It has become increasingly common in TV and film remakes to take established male characters and recast them as female ones.  The main character in the remake of Battlestar Galactica became a woman; in the Ghostbusters remake, the men have all oddly been replaced with women; and now we hear news of what is happening to Logan's Run.

Logan's Run was a 1970s movie based on the dystopian novel of the same name featuring a society that had been ruled by someone just like Obama for way too long.  The society became controlling to the point where people were forced to live in domed cities and conditioned to believe that the outside world was too unsafe to live in, just as we are told that global warming is making the world unsafe to live in.  Inside the domed cities, everyone is told what to eat, drink, and do, and kinky sex is promoted to keep people distracted – again, just recent trends.  But in this future version, people are also told they have to die at 30 years of age in order to protect the environment.  Think of it as a retroactive abortion.

The protagonist in this film is a male character named Logan, a Sandman who kills people who don't want to die at age 30 with a special gun that flame-broils them like a hamburger.  He falls in love with a sensitive runner named Jessica with lovely thighs, and they escape to the outside world and find that it is habitable, although Washington, D.C. has been destroyed, and the U.S. Senate has been taken over by cats.

In the remake of the film that is being planned, Logan is going to be replaced with a woman.  This is not merely odd, like changing all the genders in Ghostbusters, but it destroys the entire premise of the movie.  If a woman is the main character, how will she be seduced by a female runner?

Possibility One: The Jessica character will be changed to a man (Jesse?), and the female Sandman (Sandperson?) will be the tough one, and Jesse will be soft and sensitive.

Possibility Two: The Jessica character will be unchanged, and the female Sandperson lead will still fall in love with Jessica, but it will be a dystopian lesbian relationship.

Either way, it destroys the entire balance of the original book.  It's all about political correctness: women must be shown as masculine, aggressive characters.  The leftists in Hollywood seldom find that their ideological spin wins in the box office, but they keep putting their warped ideology ahead of financial success.  They are truly dedicated cultural Marxists.
