There are those that would like you to believe that gay “marriage” is as normal and American as baseball and apple pie. However, the statistics – or truth data – do not reflect that inaccurate mantra. In the Unite States, out of the ~598,791 gay couples, 27% of those gay couples (less than 0.001% of the population) say they are in a relationship similar to traditional “husband and wife” relationships. In other words, when the numbers stack up, less than half of one tenth of one percent of the American population declares to be in a gay “marriage like” relationship.
This raises the question then as to why so few want to force their belief onto an overwhelming majority that views marriage as a union between a man and a woman. Is it not enough to allow state laws (determined by the people) to regulate the legality of such unions instead of a federal government dictating to a majority that clearly see it differently? Is it not enough for state laws to permit gay civil unions, which provide all the protections and rights to those choosing that path, rather than the < 0.001-percenters trying to invoke their definition of marriage on the majority?
The Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA, H.R. 3396-104th) defines marriage as follows: “In determining the meaning of any Act of Congress, or of any ruling, regulation, or interpretation of the various administrative bureaus and agencies of the United States, the word ‘marriage’ means only a legal union between one man and one woman as husband and wife, and the word ‘spouse’ refers only to a person of the opposite sex who is a husband or a wife.” It is the law of the land. Gay marriage is not a rule of law issue. It is not an individual rights issue, nor even a civil rights issue. It is a moral issue.
When the few dictate to the majority, that is called tyranny. It is time the majority stand up for their rights and not allow the < 0.001-percenters to dictate and coerce. It is time to take America back from the progressive leftist ideas of social justice, another name for socialism and communism. Once down that path, say goodbye to individual rights and civil liberties, to include the civil union rights of gays today.
