John Legend's Spoiled Academy Award Speech
The song “Glory” featuring John Legend and Common roused the sympathies of the liberals at the Academy Awards.
John Legend received love for his speech comparing the slaves of the 19th century to modern-day African Americans in the criminal justice system.
Give me a break. I am a white Jew who did a two-year sentence for tax evasion. How many years was Legend’s bid? Oh, that’s right; his bid was for expensive paintings at Sotheby’s.
It used to make me sick when blacks at our prison camp used to complain about racism. The guards treated them exactly the same as me but they carried baggage of their feeling sorry for themselves when the world was no longer bigoted against them.
During Legend’s speech Oprah Winfrey was crying. I don’t understand why these millionaires and billionaires bite into the apple of their ancestors’ grief. Legend and Oprah suffered nothing. Are they so greedy that they want fortunes simultaneously with the pride of being trounced-on-slaves?
Legend went on that "We live in the most incarcerated country in the world." He said, “There are more black men under correctional control today than there were under slavery in 1850."
There wouldn’t be so many incarcerated black men if they didn’t commit crimes disproportionate to the rest of the population.
Martin Luther King would be ashamed of people crying for black prisoners rather than trying to reform the content of criminals’ characters.
And Legend? Just another spoiled limousine liberals who throws crumbs of sympathy at the wrong people from his stretch Cadillac.
Shame on Legend. He belittles the real suffering of the slaves in the nineteenth century by pretending that he is one of the injured rather than one of the pampered.
