Having insulted France (and the causes of free speech and fighting against violent jihad) by staying home with no official business to take care of today, President Obama compounded the slight by having his lame duck Attorney General Eric Holder issue a lame invitation to peers of his boss. Reuters:

 U.S. President Barack Obama will invite allies to a Feb 18 security summit in Washington, U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder announced on Sunday after meeting his European counterparts in Paris.

"We will bring together all of our allies to discuss ways in which we can counteract this violent extremism that exists around the world," Holder told reporters.

Once again, a refusal to name radical Islam or violent jihad as the enemy. The problem is not with Lutherans or with soccer thugs. There is only one brand of “violent extremism” that is a threat to the world today, and that is jihad consistent with the instructions of Islamic scripture. Yes, there are examples of nonviolent jihad, as in the now-withdrawn campaign by CAIR to portray jihad as a quest for self-improvement.

But there is also the Koranic jihad, such as 8:12:

I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them.
