The ubiquitous anti-cop vitriol coming from all directions in the last few months is making it more dangerous for police to protect inner-city neighborhoods. Since police officers Ramos and Liu were murdered two weeks ago in New York, cops elsewhere around the country have been shot at, threatened, and killed.

In Richmond, Virginia, on January 2, an officer responding to a "mental health situation" call in the city's east end met a barrage of bullets as he stepped out of his police cruiser.

Witnesses at the scene stated that Tamar X. Harris, a 20-year-old black male, was sitting on a rock next to a home where kids were playing when Officer William Turner, a 31-year-veteran of the department, pulled up.  Harris allegedly made his way across the street, and as Turner went to get out of his vehicle, the suspect started shooting.  Although Turner was hit in the abdomen and a bullet grazed his head, he was able to return fire, wounding the suspect.  Turner was listed in critical condition on Saturday and expected to live.  The press is not saying who made the call or even if the mental health report was about Harris.

Moreover, the spin is already happening, with shocked friends and neighbors claiming that Harris could hardly stand up due to a gunshot injury he sustained in the face a few years back.  Yet Harris's Facebook page doesn't show him on crutches or in a wheelchair or mention any trips to a psychiatric facility.  What it does reveal is exactly what cops are up against when they get called into places like Fulton Hill in Richmond.

Harris's FB page, using the name "TaMar Ontheblade Harris," has graphic sex talk, depraved meanderings, handfuls-of-cash pics, a post about his first gun, a post about being locked up, and one horrific video he posted from somebody else's page showing a young girl getting her head blown off to some Middle Eastern song in the background.  Harris's caption for the video?  'B***h u should of stayed faithful."

Being a cop nowadays, with hundreds of these warped, violent, gang-banging thugs practically getting the green light from top government officials, is more frightening than ever.
