Time for sports teams to wear NYPD logo shirts
Rep. Peter King has a great suggestion: if members of sports teams can wear “I can’t breathe” and “Hands up, don’t shoot” t-shirts, then members of college and professional sports teams can wear shirts with the NYPD logo. He writes:
"To honor the memory of the two NYPD officers who were assassinated yesterday and to demonstrate solidarity with the brave men and women of law enforcement, I urge college and professional basketball, football and hockey teams to wear NYPD insignia on their uniforms. This would bring honor and dignity to the NCAA, the NBA, the NFL and the NHL."
He’s right. The forces of law and order protect us all, crime-ridden minority communities as much or more than others.
