Yemen: the Land of Milk & Honey... and Al Qaeda Financing
Somewhere in the northern Arabian Sea, in his watery grave, Osama bin Laden is laughing his ass off… at us, the United States and how completely stupid we are!
Al Qaeda, and its various.affiliates/spinoffs and junior varsity Salafi-Jihadi organizations have made gains over the past five years that would have been unimaginable to Bin Laden when he fled Tora Bora in the dead of night for a hideout in Pakistan, his theological organization in shambles, and on the run from U.S. Military Forces. The heady days of euphoria and “victory” after 9/11 was a dim memory for them at that time.
Since 2009 however the gains made by the group’s theology, have been impressive: U.S. surrender in Iraq/re-occupation of Fallujah; U.S. surrender in Afghanistan; attack on the Benghazi consulate; temporary penetration and raising of the black flag of Al Qaeda over the U.S. Embassy in Cairo; tens of thousands of Salafi-Jihadis fighting to overthrow the Assad government in Syria, the de facto control of the eastern half of Libya; Boko Haram on a murderous rampage in northern Nigeria, temporary occupation of northern Mali; the U.S. surrender of five of the most murderous Taliban leaders for one, pathetic anti-American U.S. soldier who had deliberately deserted his post!
And now, the icing on the cake:
…one longtime detainee, a former bodyguard for Osama bin Laden, is now harmless because he’s going to start a “milk and honey farm.”
Yes, it now appears as if the United States is going to release one of the Guantanamo detainees, because he wants to start a “milk and honey farm” in Yemen; which renders him, in the delusional world that our elected leaders now inhabit, “harmless”!
How quickly they forget!
You see, it was exactly honey farms in Yemen, that helped finance the 9/11 attack on the United States, that started all this, almost thirteen years ago!
Shortly after the 9/11 attacks, U.S. federal agents received a tip-off from a confidential informant that a Yemeni sheik was raising money in Brooklyn for al-Qaeda. The sheik had allegedly boasted in recorded conversations that he had raised as much as U.S. $20 million for Osama bin Laden. Some of the money was raised in cash donations, but cash is bulky and difficult to move. Depositing the cash in a formal bank and wire transferring it to Yemen would have raised red flags. So the sheik arranged to have the bulk cash shipped in cargo. When the agents arrested two men at Kennedy Airport in October 2001, they found U.S. $140,000 of cash hidden in cardboard boxes along with honey jars. It wasn’t the first time the honey trade had been used to disguise the movement of money. In the months leading up to 9/11, the same Yemeni honey trading businesses imported over-invoiced honey to disguise money flowing to the United States.
The irony is not lost on Abdel Malik Wahab al Rahabi, the soon-to-be-released milk and honey farmer.
And I’m completely sure that the Jihadi-run milk and honey farm is not going to finance any more future attacks against the United States, correct? /sarc
