Putin playing for keeps
Fox News Sunday on March 2nd. U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Mich) notes the current undisputed difference between Washington and Moscow on the world stage.
“Fox News tweet. @RepMikeRogers on #Ukraine: Putin is playing Chess and we’re playing marbles. #FNS”
Friday March 14, 2014 and a flurry of tweets as the crisis over Crimea and Ukraine sees one last U.S. pitch before it…. before it… well, before something.
“Secretary of State John Kerry arrives in London for talks with his Russian counterpart on Crimea situation - @nytimesworld”
Earlier that morning these tweets. Russia pushing rooks and knights and playing the American Secretary of State as a pawn.
The U.S. wants to threaten Russia with reprisal? Does the U.S. (which ceded all ground under a phony Obama ‘red line’ in Syria to Putin) need Russia’s help on Syria? The Russians have answer for that. Check.
“Report: Syria's chemical weapons to be destroyed outside country could be removed by April 13, Russian Foreign Ministry official says - @Reuters”
Moments later another tweet. Does the U.S. need Russia’s help on the ongoing crisis over nuclear proliferation in Iran? The Russians have an answer for that. Check.
“Russian President Putin speaks to Iranian President Rouhani about Ukraine, Tehran's nuclear program - @Reuters”
And then eight hours later, and immediately prior to John Kerry’s meeting with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov, this tweet.
“Russian President Vladimir Putin is preparing to 'invade eastern Ukraine' after occupying the country's Black Sea peninsula of Crimea, Estonia says - @BloombergNews”
While Obama squeezes a steelie and gets down on his knees in the dirt hoping to knock a cat’s eye out of a circle he drew with his finger, Putin sits in the castle hovering his queen directly in front of America’s “king." Remember this is for ‘keepsies’ and …. checkmate.
