Congressional Dems get the Big Kiss-off from Big Money Dem Super-PAC
A Super PAC funded by big money Democrat donors seems to have made up its mind that 2014 is hopeless, and is concentrating its resources on electing Hillary in 2016. Tough luck for all those Democrats who bet their political careers on backing Obamacare. Buzzfeed reports:
The Democratic Party's biggest super PAC, recently retooled as an early pro-Hillary Clinton effort, will sit out the midterm elections this year.
A spokesman with the group, Priorities USA Action, confirmed to BuzzFeed on Wednesday night that it would not be involved in House or Senate campaigns.
"House Majority PAC and Majority PAC are doing everything right and making a real difference. We fully support their efforts," said the spokesman, Peter Kauffmann, referring to the main groups supporting Democratic congressional candidates.
Priorities USA Action, which operates under loose campaign finance rules that allow it to raise and spend unlimited sums, put $65 million behind Barack Obama in 2012.
When push comes to shove, it is the interests of the Clintons that matter most to the big money crowd, and the little fish of the Democratic Party in Congress can raise their own money. Besides, GOP control of Congress will give Hillary something to run against in 2016. That's a lot more attractive to them than defending the imploding Obama administration.
Control of the presidency under the New Rules Obama has implemented means picking and choosing which laws to enforce, and ignoring provisions of Congressionally-passed legislation that are politically inconvenient for the president - at least when that president is a Democrat and can count on the backing of the Mainstream Media and academic establishment. So getting Hillary elected is a much higher priority than control of Congress, now that Obamacare is an accomplished fact.
