Why is NASA purchasing 'assault rifles'?
NASA, America's space agency and Muslim outreach organization, has apparently tired of its mission of promoting Islamic self-esteem and global warming theory and has decided to instead join the ranks of Barack Obama's internal security force. Well begun is half done, the old saying goes, and NASA has begun this reassessment of its purpose with the purchase of five spiffy new AR-15 "assault weapons."
Here are the details:

Mr. Obama has called for the creation of a national internal security force that is as well funded as the U.S. military. In a speech he gave back in 2008 and he has done his best to make good, arming the Department of Homeland Security with over 1.6 billion rounds of ammo , arming the Social Security Administration with 174,000 rounds over 46,000 rounds for NOAA (the weather people) . the TSA with 3.5 million rounds , and the scary thing is the type of ammunition being purchased; hollow point bullets in many cases, which are banned by international law for military use. Their only purpose is crowd control and urban warfare.
This has fueled speculation that the Obama Administration is trying to dry up the ammunition supplies. James Inhofe thinks so .But then, why order hollow point bullets? They are not illegal, but wouldn't it be more effective to dry up the supply by purchasing standard ammunition?
Oh, and let's not forget the 2,700 light armored tanks DHS recently purchased.
So NASA is getting into the game a bit tentatively and a bit late.
But with the purchase of five weapons here, ten there, an agency (or agencies) can quickly stockpile a fairly large amount of weaponry. Why does NASA need ANY such weapons? Do they plan to shoot down Chinese satellites? If so, they are going to have to do some serious modifications to these devices to operate in vacuum...
Maybe it's part of the Muslim outreach; have a few handy if they meet with some Jihadists from Detroit or whatnot. They could give them away as presents.
At any rate, Congress has promised to stop this sort of thing, but apparently the Administration has changed tactics, ordering smaller quantities with new agencies.
This is symptomatic of a deeper malady, a darkness in this administration. Consider the ever-widening scandal involving the NSA spying on citizens, the IRS abuses of power, the FEMA camps, urban warfare drills in major U.S. cities, and a host of other issues and this purchase by NASA is icing to the Iron-booted cake.
See here, here, and here for a compilation of this administration's efforts to turn the United States into a gulag. (It took author Ben Hart three articles to cover it all.)
I wonder what else has been slipped into requisition forms at all levels of government?
This certainly puts the NSA into NASA.
