A Tarnished Silver Anniversary
This day in history, on June 23, 1988, Dr. James Hansen of NASA officially launched the man-made global warming scare by proclaiming before a Congressional hearing and the world that "the greenhouse effect is here and is affecting our climate now." From there the U.N.'s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change took over, and the rest is history.
So, celebrations are in order. Time to commemorate:
* Hundreds of regulations on the books and coming down the road to run down industrial growth and economic advancement;
* Thousands of hours of political grandstanding about how human exhausts have fueled funnel-cloud fury, hyped hurricane histrionics, and otherwise monkeyed with the meteorological mechanisms;
* Millions of tax-payer dollars shoveled into bottomless pits of "free" energy project subsidies, redundantly redundant Keystone XL and fracking environmental studies, vacuous eco-activist indoctrination curriculum, and crazy carbon-sequestration schemes; and,
* Billions of people in poverty who could easily be lifted out by access to abundant, low-cost, readily-available fossil fuels.
Toot the horns. Toss the confetti.
These are accomplishments only a socialist party could celebrate.
