News item: "NYC's Mayor Bloomberg, already famous for banning soft drinks larger than 16 oz., now seeks to ban styrofoam cups."

I've been watching late night re-runs of one of my all-time favorite New York cop shows: Telly Savalas as "Kojak," NYC's quintessential sharp-dressed, sarcastic, street-smart detective. The show aired from 1973 to 1978.

In one episode after another, Kojak with a styrofoam cup of coffee in hand  is almost as ubiquitous as Kojak with a brown Nat Sherman cigarillo or with a lollipop.

If Bloomberg's latest dictatorial edict were retroactive, Kojak might have to slap the bracelets on himself!
