Bill Clinton's Masterful 2016 Triangulation Strategy
If you know Bill Clinton you know one thing for sure, everything he does is calculated to benefit just one person - himself.
Wednesday night at the DNC Bill Clinton gave what everyone in the liberal media called one of the best speeches in American political history. No doubt about it, Clinton can captivate the masses with his, "I feel your pain" and "Now listen to me" oratory better than anyone alive today. But as I mentioned before, his calculated objective was to ultimately benefit himself - through Hillary.
What Bill Clinton accomplished Wednesday will eventually go down in political history as the most perfect triangulation strategy ever designed and implemented. And you guessed it - to put Hillary in the White House in 2016.
Bill Clinton's dominant angle in this triangulation strategy is what he (And most political pundits) sees as his irrefutable economic and foreign policy successes as a two term President. The two other accommodating angles of triangulation making this such a masterful plan are; the Obama Presidency and a potential Romney Presidency.
Bill Clinton has probably been thinking about this triangulation strategy since before Obama was elected. And as the economy continued to falter under Obama's watch, he began licking his chops. It's safe to say that Bill Clinton is not a man that gives up easily, especially if he believes someone did him wrong and thought they could get away with it. You could see it in his eyes Wednesday night - he had the look of someone intent on delivering something more than just another convention speech.
Clinton's planning for this moment began during the 2007 primaries when he probably knew it was pretty much over for Hillary. He made sure he was on record saying that Obama was not only playing the race card against him, but that Obama didn't have the experience to be president. When Hillary finally went down, Bill then went on to support Obama for president, albeit very softly.
In as slick a political move as I've ever seen from Bill Clinton, he secured the Obama Presidency as a key angle in his triangulation strategy Wednesday night by extoling the executive virtues and competency of President Obama, knowing full well that a majority of Americans think differently. Brilliant! (I still can't believe Dick Morris missed this)
And back when Romney sealed his Republican presidential nomination, Clinton began to establish the Romney Presidency angle of his triangulation strategy. Specifically, going on record that Romney had a "sterling" career at Bain Capital and that his experience "crosses the qualification threshold" to be president. Clinton gave us a hint that he was developing this triangulation during that same interview when he said, "I think the real issue ought to be, what has Governor Romney advocated in the campaign that he will do as president?" And he went on to say, "What has President Obama done and what does he propose to do? How do these things stack up against each other?" The illuminating key in this Clinton quote about both Obama and Romney are two words: "real issue." Parse that for a moment and you'll see how this all makes sense.
Wednesday night Bill Clinton secured a potential Romney Presidency as the final pivotal angle in his triangulation strategy by seeming to reverse all those complementary things he said about Romney earlier while illuminating the stark differences between an Obama and Romney Presidency. And to set the triangulation into motion, the most important differences Clinton alluded to were the differences between his successful presidency and both the Obama and a potential Romney presidency. VoilĂ - triangulation!
With the triangulation now complete, all Bill Clinton has to do now is sit back for two and a half or three years and plan for Hillary's campaign. You see, it really doesn't matter who wins the election this November because Bill Clinton knows one thing for sure, and that sly dog left several hints about it all through is speech at the DNC. Bill Clinton knows that this economy will go straight down the drain with another four years of Obama, and he also knows that this economy is so screwed-up right now that no matter what Romney does to try and fix it, it won't recover fast enough to satisfy a gilded liberal media bent on doing everything in their power for the next four years to destroy Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan for dethroning their supreme leader. There will be hell-to-pay from the liberal media, and the master Clinton knows it. And he knows the media loves both he and Hillary.
In full triangulation mode, Hillary can now successfully run against either a failed Obama Presidency or a badly battered and weakened Romney Presidency in 2016.
All hail Bill Clinton - the political master.
