'Forward.' The Perfect Campaign Slogan for Obama?

"FORWARD." Is it the perfect slogan for the Obama campaign?  Of course it is!  The President wants voters to look forward, because if they all look backward, the first thing that they will see is how he exacerbated the 2007-2008 financial crisis.

They will see how he "bailed out" the auto industry at the expense of private citizens who had invested in bonds in those companies.

They will see how he shut down hundreds of auto dealerships who were shown to be donors to the Republican Party.

They will see how he rammed through the Affordable Care Act (or as it is more popularly known, Obamacare).

They will see the utter failure to provide any economic growth that was Obama's justification for his so-called "stimulus" that added almost a trillion dollars to the national debt.

They will see that unemployment has been over 8% for forty-plus months.

They will see the Solyndra fiasco.  They will also see the proliferation of regulations aimed at crippling historically reliable sources of energy such as natural gas, coal and petroleum.

In the midst of the worst post-war recession, with millions unemployed, they will hear the president announce that "the private sector is doing fine."

They will remember that Obama promised to cut the deficit in half, while giving us an annual deficit of more than a trillion dollars - for each year he has been in office.

They will see that more people are now receiving food stamps than at any time since that program was inaugurated.

They will see the 37 White House czars that are not accountable to the voters in any way.

By asking voters to only look forward, far forward, the Obama campaign hopes that they will only see sunshine, lollipops, rainbows and economic unicorns and ignore the fact that he has utterly no ideas on how to help entrepreneurs and small business feel confident in their future.  Right now these men and women who create most of the new jobs in this nation are unwilling to invest in growth strategies for their firms.

They will not invest in new equipment.

They will not hire more people.

They will not, therefore, help the economy recover.  Unlike the government, they understand the concept of "throwing good money after bad" and they will continue to sit on the sidelines.

So Obama asks you to look forward.  Look forward to a place and a time that doesn't actually exist.  It doesn't exist anywhere but in the mind of Obama.

Obama just loves the concept of FORWARD because it's a blank slate, an empty page that he can fill with fantasies. In other words, it is a reprise of the 2008 campaign. It consists of fantasies that never become reality because his leadership is non-existent.

In 2008 Obama ran on the slogan "Hope and Change", and he convinced a majority of voters that he could give them hope and change.  Sadly, he only gave them change, and took away their hopes.  Even worse, not everyone likes the change that Obama gave them.  A line from a play seems completely appropriate to describe it.

"You're hurt because everything's changed..."

Obama says he wants voters to look forward to a glorious future.  He'd better hope that those voters don't ask what play that line came from.

It was from John Osborne's play Look Back in Anger.
