Raising money on the 4th of July...in Paris
And where is President Barack Obama (D) as the United States celebrates its independence? According to the official White House site Obama has "No public schedule" for July 4. Hmm, so maybe he's celebrating at Camp David or relaxing and playing golf at Martha's Vineyard.
The Obama campaign* is celebrating a bit differently -- in Paris, as in Paris, France to raise money for his re- election campaign. And he's getting help from some major American stars, also in Paris according to Ben Shapiro of Breitbart's Big Hollywood.
The European Obama campaign starts next week in Paris on July 4 with a reception organized by various fundraising heavy-hitters. Independence Day fundraisers in Paris - now that's a flag-waving campaign.
The Obama campaign will host events in Geneva, Switzerland in August as part of their "European outreach effort." George Clooney will headline a fundraiser there, with 150 tickets going for $20,000 per piece. There's even more to the bargain: if you go as a couple, the second ticket is half-off!
Such a deal for those one per centers who can afford $20,000 for a reception.
But why Paris? Apparently too many people are still buying wedding gifts for the bride and groom instead of dumping money in the Obama-Biden tip jar, uh, wedding registry alternative.
*To clarify: Obama himself is not present, but his campaign is. We regret the suggestion otherwise in an earlier version.
