Fatal attraction: The politics of celebrity culture

I am a Registered Nurse and a Tea Party member. I find it appalling that the majority of my coworkers know all about American Idol and Dancing with the Stars, but are unable to name their Senator or Congressman. The recent commercials by Anna Wintour and Sarah Jessica Parker would be laughable if the practice of celebrity worship were not so endemic to our culture. This worship is destroying us from within.
