Obama's Cure for Illegal Immigration Worse Than the Disease
President Obama's economic policies amount to chemo-economics, as he is using these policies like a cancer therapy to "cure" the nation of what he perceives as the "disease" of capitalism.
With food stamp usage at an all time high, millions dropping out of the labor market and no longer being counted in the unemployment numbers, and 50% of the recent college graduates either unemployed or underemployed, Obama's "cure" seems to be working quite brilliantly.
There does appear to be one unintended side-effect of chemo-economics, though, that Obama and the Democrats certainly didn't count on, something that conservatives can actually be happy about. As pointed out in Rick Moran's recent piece, and in this Washington Times piece that was mentioned by Rush Limbaugh on his show Wednesday, chemo-economics seems to have had an apoptotic effect on illegal immigration. Net immigration from Mexico has stopped and may have reversed according to a Pew report.
From the Times piece:
So the Mexicans have quit coming to the hopeless part of North America. Canada is just too far to walk.
Or, at least, the few final stragglers who have not kept up with America's woes and are still sneaking into the U.S. are balanced out by all the illegal Mexicans already here who are now risking their lives to cross the desert to escape the American "dream."
Now we know why all the politicians in Washington have finally agreed to beef up security and build a fence along the southern border. They're desperate to keep all the Mexicans from leaving.
That's right, who would raise their children and mow their lawns and do all of America's dirty work if all the Mexicans left?
Authors of the Pew report call the stunning shift in migration patterns historic. Not since the Great Depression, they say, has a shift of this magnitude occurred along the U.S.-Mexico border. Not since the Great Depression?
Chemo-economics appears to be working a little too well. So why build a giant wall to prevent illegal immigration when all you have to do is kill the U.S. economy? Democrats may want to build that wall to help keep potential Democrat voters from leaving the country.
Let us hope that chemo-economics gets permanently removed from the market this November never to be used again.
Obama's "cure" for our economy is not the way to cure the problem of illegal immigration.
