The bubble wrapped White House
What world does the White House live in? I filled up my tank just before I listened to the SOTU address. Three weeks ago I paid $3.23 a gallon. Two weeks ago I paid $3.35. Last night it was $3.49. When George Bush left office I was paying less than $2.00 a gallon. Most energy analysts expect prices to rise to $4 a gallon by May. You don't even want to get me started about what has happened to my electric bill in the last three years.
Maybe the White House speech writers should consider those numbers before they distort what really is happening to US energy production under a regime of subsidies for inefficient alternative energy, draconian EPA mandates on power plants and refineries, and the nixing of the Keystone pipeline as a sop to the neo Luddite environmentalists and as a political payoff to Warren Buffett.
