Occupy...Walmart?
Walmart, the store much beloved of many Middle Americans, has become one of the targets of the OWS movement as the protestors will "occupy" several retailers on "Black Friday."
The reason? Cut into the profits of big corporations who "corrupt" our politics with their filthy, dirty money.
Organizers are encouraging consumers to either occupy or boycott retailers that are publicly traded, according to the Stop Black Friday website.
The goal of the movement is to impact the profits of major corporations this holiday season.
"The idea is simple, hit the corporations that corrupt and control American politics where it hurts, their profits, " states the Occupy Black Friday Facebook page.
A few of the retailers the protesters plan on targeting include Neiman Marcus, Amazon and Wal-Mart.
Their website states the following:
"Keep in mind that we are not occupying small businesses or hardworking people--we must make a distinction between the businesses that are in the pockets of Wall Street and the businesses that serve our local communities.
We are NOT anti-capitalist. Just anti-crapitalist.
As if the hundreds of jobs at Walmart and other retailers don't "serve our local communities."
The disconnect between reality and the movement's own towering arrogance is breathtaking to see. Retailers make most of their profits during the Christmas season. Lower profits mean layoffs that would hit the "99%" hard. Of course, the protestors believe that losing your job should be the least you would want to do in service to the cause. You should be happy to abandon your family to poverty.
No doubt the protest will fizzle - as all other cockamamie ideas from this crew has fizzled over the last couple of months. If you happen to run into any of these idiots at Walmart or Sears, or some other retailer, don't get angry. Simply point your finger at them and laugh. Ridicule is a far more powerful weapon in dealing with these loonies than violence or anger.
