Would you believe 63% favor Obama's 'jobs' bill?
Would you believe that 63% of Americans are in favor of Obama's new and improved $447 billion 'jobs' bill? Neither would I.
But the liberal media would like to create that impression for the impressionable. As the result of a recent poll, one headline reads: "Americans, unlike the Senate, approve of Obama's jobs bill, poll says." (Let's keep in mind the Senate is controlled by New Democrat Harry Reid).
The title refers to a recent NBC/Wall Street Journal survey.
So how did the pollsters work their magic for Dear Leader?
When NBC pollsters asked for a simple up-or-down appraisal of the bill, minus any policy details, the same group of respondents expressed less than half the level of support that they later showed. 'When asked simply if Congress should pass the legislation or not, 30 percent of respondents answer yes, while 22 percent say no; 44 percent have no opinion,' according to NBC.
So, it turns out that only 30% of the public want Obama's "jobs" bill.
But once NBC provided some "policy details," suddenly a whopping 63% are in love with Shovel Ready Jobs Bill 2, otherwise known as the American Jobs Act. And, only 32% oppose it!
The selective "details" provided to respondents were that the bill would "cut payroll taxes, fund new road construction and extend unemployment benefits." Oh, and respondents were told that the "wealthy" will pay for it. What's another half-trillion dollars when the "wealthy" can pick up the tab for Obama?
Unsurprisingly, 64% of the general public agree that it's a "good idea" to raise the taxes of the "wealthy" and corporations so they can pay their "fair share."
Who isn't in favor of having their payroll taxes cut? Why not just call random people and ask, "Would you like a bigger paycheck if someone else will contribute the funds?" Barack Hussein Obama, mmm, mmm, mmm!
One problem, of course, is found in what the survey didn't reveal. Namely, that the payroll tax cuts in the phony jobs bill are temporary but the estimated $447 billion dollar cost of the bill will become a permanent tax burden for this and the next generation and probably the next. In addition to the trillions he's already strapped on the taxpayers' backs, that's some serious money Obama would like to spread around -- too bad the printed money would be as fake as Obama himself.
I wonder if the NBC/Wall Street Journal respondents were aware that Harvard economist, Martin Feldstein estimates that the latest "jobs" bill will cost $225,000 per job created? Of course, that shouldn't matter; so long as the "wealthy" are paying for it.
It's not a jobs bill, it's a snow job. And, once again the establishment media are in on it.
