Sen. Claire McCaskill Running Scared Claiming to be 'Feisty Independent'
Apparently Claire McCaskill (D-MO) is hoping her constituents in Missouri have developed amnesia about her liberal positions as she tries to retain her Senate seat in 2012.
On Friday's Hannity, Frank Luntz showcased a focus-group comprised of Democrat and Republican voters who graded a mix of current elected officials and their accompanying answers to a handful of questions focusing on our national debt, the deficit, and the economy. In addition to McCaskill, others who participated were Senators John Kyl, Rand Paul, and Jim DeMint.
Claire McCaskill declared, "We have to spend less; we have to be willing to compromise." She claims that some of her colleagues don't agree with her "feisty independent streak" which also seeks to raise taxes on business owners and investors while wanting to cut spending "across the board" including "waste in the Pentagon."
White it certainly is true that we have to look "across the board" for spending cuts, the case may be a little bit more believable to the ears of struggling Americans (including Missouri's grassroots) if it weren't coming from a Democrat Senator who voted proudly for ObamaCare, rallied against the Stupak Amendment which sought to prevent federal funds from paying for abortions, and who was swept into Congress on the basis of a Michael J. Fox campaign commercial urging Americans to support federal funding for embryonic stem cell research.
Aside from being one of the very first Senators to endorse Barack Obama, as Claire McCaskill did in January 2008, she has made her position on the destruction of innocent human life crystal clear. Be it the purposeful destruction of human embryos or the practice of abortion, Claire McCaskill has made it a mission to repeatedly deny erring on the side of life while blatantly expecting the rest of us to pay for it whether we like it or not.
Just as today's Democratic Party uses visuals portraying Paul Ryan pushing grandma over a cliff (while the rest of us who don't require visuals already know Obama carried out that mission by ripping $500 Billion out of Medicare to fund ObamaCare), Claire McCaskill's Democratic Party of 2006 was busy airing commercials featuring an visibly-ailing Michael J. Fox, who urged Missouri voters to elect McCaskill so she and other Washington liberals could squander taxpayer-federal funds on embryonic stem cell research (ESCR).
Until then in 2006, McCaskill, who already had the advantage of a strong anti-incumbent environment due to Bush's low approval ratings, was running neck-to-neck in the polls with incumbent Republican Senator, Jim Talent in Missouri, which by in large remains a political toss-up state affecting shifts of power in the Senate. It was Michael J. Fox's endorsement which pushed her over the edge, where she beat Talent 49.6% to 47.3%. In fact, the hullabaloo created made embryonic stem cell research a "key issue" for many Democrats who replaced Republicans in 2006.
Setting aside the moral question of purposely destroying human embryos, most commonsense Americans can easily see that the practice of embryonic stem cell research has yet to deliver any groundbreaking results in terms of fighting major illnesses like Parkinson's disease or sadly for McCaskill, amnesia.
Claire McCaskill is just another feckless, big-spending Washington Democrat with an agenda. Miraculously, now she wants to appeal to independents -- not on the basis of her personal convictions, but following the trend of the nation's mood just before an election year.
McCaskill's blatant support for wasteful big liberal spending like ObamaCare and the failed stimulus along with her blatant disregard for the sanctity of human life leads to only one conclusion: Claire McCaskill is anything but a politician with an "independent streak." Just as Barack Obama must be one-term-president, it is just as important to make sure Claire McCaskill is a one-term Senator.
