Another Rent Control Triumph
For all of you naysayers that claim government programs never work as intended, we point to Santa Monica's rent control program which has a stated goal of preserving economic diversity in that Southern California city. Upon his arrest, Whitey Bulger was said to be in possession of $800,000 cash. Had it not been for the controlled rent of $1,145 per month for his apartment, Bulger may have been down to just a half-million dollars in walking around money.
Celebrate diversity that includes fugitive mobsters in the "gorgeous mosaic."
