Obama's Osama speech: once again he goes for the reverb (updated)

When presidents address the nation without an audience, it is customary for the Commander in Chief to sit behind the Oval Office desk, speaking one-on-one, as it were, to the American people. But not President Obama, who strongly prefers a godlike reverberation for his voice.

So last night America saw the President of the United States  walking down the hallway to the spot where presidential speeches are given to the awaiting press. But at the 11 PM Sunday night hour, there were no press people assembled for questions, no audience there. Just the president, his teleprompter, and his voice echoing off the hard surfaces, lending  authority, and a bit of awesomeness to that baritone voice to which we have all become accustomed.

At least there weren't any Styrofoam columns this time.

Update -- Russ Vaugh writes:

I, Obama killed Osama

In a self-serving speech that only a narcissist like Barack Obama could stand before the American people and deliver with a straight face, our affirmative action president confirmed once again that the policies of George Bush work.

American Special Forces, put into the field by George Bush immediately after the September 11th attack, finally succeeded in killing Osama bin Laden in Pakistan. That our man hunters had been on the trail of this terrorist killer since days following the 2001attack seem to have eluded the current occupant of the Oval Office. In his speech to America about this seminal event it was all I, I, I, and more I's. To hear this community organizer from Chicago, he went out there and led the hunter-killer team that brought this terrorist assassin to his deserved end.

America should understand one thing: this president had nothing to do with this event. American special operations forces have been on a determined lethal track since September 12th, 2001. The Osama kill was long in the planning before this pretender to greatness ever assumed office. For him to now stand before the microphones with his repetitive and self-serving I, I, I's, claiming credit for this event is not only beneath his usually low standards, it's beneath contempt. But yeah, it's great for re-election purposes, hmm?

To not heap the credit on America's Special Operations Forces, but instead to bathe himself in glory shows me the true contemptibility of this occupant of America's highest office.
