The U.S Should Get Rid of Gaddafi
The known extent Gaddafi plays in world terrorism already warrants U.S action against him. But to further add upon the reasons why the world should be rid of him, officials from the Gaddafi regime that have recently defected have said that Gaddafi directly ordered the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 which killed 270 lives, 190 of which, were Americans.
As The Telegraph reports:
"Swedish daily Expressen reported that Libya's former justice minister Mustapha Abdeljalil, after defecting to the opposition, told the newspaper that he has "proof that Gaddafi gave the order on Lockerbie."
"According to Abdeljalil, Gaddafi "ordered Megrahi to do it (the bombing)," and had worked hard to secure his release to ensure that his role in the plot remained secret."
Given, that we already know Gaddafi had something to do with the bombing, this piece of news just further reinforces the fact that severe American action against Gaddafi and his regime is long overdue.
The moment it was found out that Gaddafi had something to do with killing Americans (which was decades ago), his regime should have been dismantled, and he should have been killed immediately. Today this is more than possible
Whatever the Libyan people replace his regime with should be treated accordingly to the new regime's character. If after replacing Gaddafi, the Libyans get a freer country that's more respecting of rights, and one that's friendlier to the U.S and its allies, than it should be treated well. If the Libyan people instead put in Gaddafi's place another Islamic Theocrat, than it should be treated accordingly, depending on how much of a threat it is.
Either way, there is no reason for the U.S to allow this mad man with American blood on his hands to stay in power.
