We have so much to be thankful for this year
In a year which saw the passage of ObamaCare, the Dodd-Frank Financial Reform Bill, the appointment of another unqualified hard-left advocate (Kagan) to our Supreme Court, a rising body count in Afghanistan, persistent high unemployment and other less well publicized assaults on our freedom and security it may seem as if there is very little to be thankful for. However this past year saw record numbers of our fellow Americans becoming engaged in the cause of Liberty and a number of significant victories which portent well for the year ahead.
The steady growth of the Tea Party movement in the face of a full-on assault by the left and their fellow travelers in the MSM shows that the American people are re-discovering their love of country and embracing our founding principles to an extent not seen in our lifetime. The victory of so many Tea Party candidates in the recent mid-term elections despite a well organized smear campaign which came from not only the left, but from the republican establishment should give us all encouragement for 2012.
Glenn Beck’s ‘Restoring Honor Rally’ packed in an enormous crowd in Washington in August, the well behaved throngs of our fellow patriots left the mall filled with pride in our land of freedom. On the mall and the surrounding areas there was no trace of the days activity as our friends honored their nation by cleaning up after themselves. Counter demonstrations and rallies staged by the ‘Hate America First’ crowd showed the powerful influence of radical unionism and socialism as reflected in their words, signs and literature, much of which was left behind in the trash heaps that always seem to accompany their gatherings.
On November 2nd our fellow patriots in Iowa went to the polls and made a statement that the sovereignty of the people will not tolerate an activist judiciary which seeks to impose their own agenda at the expense of the democratic process. All three of the Iowa Supreme Court justices who were on this years ballot for retention were handed their pink slips for their nefarious role in imposing same-sex marriage on the people.
The good citizens of Oklahoma voted for an amendment to their state constitution which would prohibit the use of Sharia or international in cases brought before their state courts. The amendment which would prevent activist judges from subverting the will of the people was immediately challenged by the Council on American-Islamic Relations (C.A.I.R.) a shadowy group with has been linked to Hamas. U.S. District Judge Vicki Miles-LaGrange has intervened on behalf of C.A.I.R. to halt implementation of the amendment, but in so doing the Clinton appointee has revealed the need for such constitutional protections. Miles-LaGrange said that she will render her decision on Monday, November 29. We are watching.
The 112th U.S. Congress has already voted to ban earmarks which represents a clear victory for ‘We The People.’ The new congress gives every appearance that the sovereign will of the people will be respected and embraced. Let us be thankful that the incoming congress will act as a bulkhead to halt the flood of Mr. Obama’s socialist agenda which is sinking our nation. New members of this congress like René Ellmers and Joe Walsh defied the odds and beat incumbent democrats with virtually no assistance from their own party. This bodes well for their constituents as they understand the true power of the electorate.
Despite the constant personal attacks and MSM badgering, Sarah Palin has worked tirelessly to help elect conservative candidates across our nation. Her strength, independence, values and good cheer invite comparison to President Ronald Reagan. Although there are many who question her qualifications to be president (ironic since these are the people who elected the least qualified president in our nation’s history) nobody can question Sarah’s true love of country. Ronald Reagan loved America, believed in American exceptionalism and had an abiding faith in his fellow citizens and I can see those same qualities in Sarah Palin. We should all be very thankful for all that Sarah Palin has done and continues to do for our country.
We also should be thankful for the new breed of political leaders who are fighting to restore government accountability, reduce waste, cut spending and reverse the tide of socialism and out-of-control entitlement spending. Chris Christy, Bobby Jindal, Jan Brewer, Mitch Daniels, Rick Perry, Jim DeMint, Steve King, Mike Pence, Aaron Schock, Paul Ryan and a growing number of new leaders really seem to understand our founding principles and are willing to fight for ‘We The People.’
Yes, we have a lot to be thankful for this year.
