Failure Will Not Be Disappointing, It Will Be Destructive
Symbolic gestures such as Speaker of House-elect John Boehner choosing to fly commercial instead of using military aircraft are fine in and of themselves and begin to set the right tone, but they cannot be a substitute for real action.
The newly-elected conservatives must do everything within their power to halt Obama's radical agenda and undo the damage that he has inflicted on our nation. Failure to do so will not just be disappointing, it will be seriously destructive.
Time is running out for the existence of America as we know it; and time has run out for idle passiveness and vain attempts at bipartisanship. These tactics have been exhausted, have utterly failed, and have helped speed up the decline of freedom. Rush Limbaugh recently pointed out:
"Since the New Deal we have operated from the premise that whatever is in place stays, but we'll work around the edges. We'll try to streamline it, make it more efficient on the margins. If we are serious about reducing the size of government and returning the whole concept of freedom and liberty as founded, we need to go after the foundations of the left. We need to explain to the American people why they are destructive, why they are dangerous, why they spread poverty, why they spread illiteracy, how they destroy the American family... all of these supposed programs of compassion just bug me to no end because they destroy. They destroy humanity, they destroy people's dreams, they take away their initiative, creating this dependency all for the sake of one party's political power under the guise of helping people, when in fact it's destructive. They spread poverty. They spread illiteracy. They dumb people down on purpose. This is the kinds of thing that's going to have to be attacked... Since we've won the election, this is not a time to pull back on engaging the public."Limbaugh's conclusion about "the foundations of the left" is not overstated for the sake of the argument. Just before the November 2nd elections, a certain political group encouraged its members to get out and vote with the following message:
"If the grand alliance that elected Barack Obama comes out in full force to vote we can stop the Tea Party/Republican takeover, continue moving forward and push further for green jobs, union rights, health care and the safety net for the common good."This was the message of The Communist Party USA.
The battle that the conservatives now face is truly a showdown between the entire concept of the "free world" and the "road to serfdom" that has so long been warned against.
