Consequence of contempt for American law
When will liberals ever begin to examine the consequences of their actions? The LAPD is up to its ears in burning trash cans, hurled rocks and bottles and confrontational illegals after police action in response to a knife-wielder resulted in the man's death.
Like other Sanctuary Cities in the United States (see the remarkably long and detailed list here), Los Angeles offers an open invitation to illegals to settle in their city. Never mind that no real thought was ever given as to whether the native locals were willing or able to support a raft of semi-skilled aliens with enormous social service needs. Nor was consideration given as to what the community might do once the illegal population reached critical mass, as it clearly has done in Los Angeles.
Now it appears that the LAPD will soon be unable to offer even the modicum of public safety it has until recently provided. The huge population of illegals, primarily Mexicans and Central Americans, has been radically politicized by Democrat rhetoric to the point where members of the indigenous police force are treated, in the words of Al Sharpton, as "interlopers." It will be interesting to see if control of the streets is conceded to illegal aliens, or whether those providing sanctuary care to assert control and public order. The population of scofflaws who arrived here only by thumbing their noses at American statutes holds little respect for American society or its institutions.
Make no mistake, it isn't just Los Angeles getting dissed by illegals and it isn't just sanctuary cities, either. If any doubt remains in your mind as to whether we should demand that completion of the Mexican border fence be a top priority for our newly elected conservative Congress in November, I ask that you perform a simple exercise. See if your local newspaper has a feature similar to the Indianapolis Star's "Indy's Most Wanted." This list is provided by local law enforcement in order to elicit information regarding the whereabouts of local fugitives from the law.
According to the latest available survey (2006-2008), the population of Indianapolis sits at about 807,584 with approximately 66% of the residents white, 25.29% African-American, and about 7 % Hispanic or Latino of any race. While the other populations have remained stable, the reported Hispanic population has nearly doubled from 3.88% in 2000. I would submit that the local Hispanic population is closer to 12 or 15% two years after that latest survey.
When we examine the Most Wanted statistics, we find that nearly half of those considered fugitives from Indianapolis justice to be Hispanic. Not counting those already captured by police, a total of 230 alleged criminals on the list: 96 of those fugitives are Hispanic or 41.9 %. It seems obvious that those civil disrespecting Los Angeles Latinos are not alone in their contempt for American law and order. While Hispanics compose about 11 % of the U.S. population, yet nearly a third of prisoners held in federal prison are Hispanic.
Does this imply that Hispanics are more criminally inclined by nature. Hardly so. These statistics demonstrate that our unwillingness to protect our border is an open invitation to Mexican and Central American gangs and criminals to stroll unimpeded into our country. The pickings for criminal enterprise are much greater here than those in impoverished Latin America. Clearly an urgent part of our conservative agenda must be the completion of the border wall and the expulsion of those here illegally, beginning with those in violation of our statutes.
